Banana extract
Banana is one of the most important fruit crops of the world, grown in the tropics, and although it is most widely consumed in those regions, it is valued worldwide for its flavour, nutritional value, and availability throughout the year. So it is no surprise that the edible plants have been used in skincare for millennia, for their soothing benefits. The tropical fruit is naturally high in magnesium, and a good source of vitamins A, E, C. Often used to formulate creams, lotions, bath products, masks and shampoo.
The skin benefits of banana go beyond simple skin-soothing and hydrating; it’s also healing, which is why it doubles as an effective haircare ingredient. Each part of the banana offers different skin benefits – banana peel is anti-microbial, and the actual banana has nourishing, moisturising, and even exfoliating properties.
Traditional banana extract (Musa Sapientum (Banana) extract) is a liquid derived from the purée of a yellow banana. Banana extract, being a nutritious antioxidant, helps to hydrate and nourish even dry skin.
